Sunrun energises power solutions in Puerto Rico

July 5, 2018

US-based Sunrun is joining the ongoing effort to provide backup power solutions to homes in Puerto Rico after the devastating hurricanes that hit the Caribbean last September.

Sunrun is now offering its lithium battery systems integrated with solar panels for homes on the island to generate and store energy to be used in the event of power outages.

Sunrun’s home solar Brightbox system uses lithium-ion batteries from South Korea’s LG Chem.

Sunrun said its system can be installed in a day — and the energy stored in home batteries can be aggregated and deployed during peak demand or outages, “creating a more resilient overall energy system”.
