July 3, 2018

India’s Consul Neowatt has launched its first UPS dedicated to protecting the country’s automated teller machines (ATM) from power outages.

Consul said the ATMSure UPS, developed in its R&D facility in Pune, combines a management system and maintenance-free batteries.

According to the company, the UPS uses a quick charge and deep discharge feature, which can operate over a wide input voltage range without switching to batteries. The batteries can be quickly re-charged after an extended power outage.

Consul said it has also developed an intelligent power and energy management system for ATMs (iPEMS-ATM), which can be added to new and existing ATM sites.

The iPEMS-ATMis said to be able to extend the reliability and life of batteries,“eliminating a major failure mode in the downtime of the UPS”.
