Schneider Electric hails “first cloud-enabled UPS”

March 12, 2018

Schneider Electric has unveiled a feature that it says creates “the first cloud-enabled UPS” for extended IT environments.

The lithium-ion powered Smart-UPS APC UPS with SmartConnect allows companies to “effectively and proactively manage the health of their UPS systems”, the company said.

The device also allows managed service providers to remotely monitor the performance of the UPS.

Schneider Electric said “these solutions enable companies and especially small and medium-sized businesses, with limited staff and IT resources, to effectively and proactively manage the health of their UPS systems”.

“SmartConnect's cloud-powered technology also enables outsourcing service providers to expand their remote UPS monitoring offering for server message blocks (SMBs). This provides them with more opportunities to better serve their customers through value-added infrastructure services while generating new revenue streams by providing minimal effort at no additional cost.”
