Active Power, a division of German critical power specialist Piller Power Systems, is supplying UPS systems to a major hospital in the US state of Massachusetts specialising in paediatrics.
Two Active Power CleanSource Multi-Module 600Z UPS systems (pictured) are being installed at the new imaging centre in Massachusetts General Hospital.
“In addition to being a renowned children’s general facility, the hospital is a leading children’s specialty care teaching centre,” Active Power said. “Power fluctuations in an imaging centre can affect patient care, patient scheduling, time sensitive testing, revenue loss and can cause sensitive equipment failures, so downtime is a very critical issue.”
The imaging centre will also be installing two additional Active Power CleanSource HD675 UPS systems for their critical bus, the company said. “As technology advances, so does the quality of care. The need for high density computing with ‘big data’ storage is key in addition to health services for a hospital. The need to organise and analyse massive digital records grows daily while at the same time milliseconds has become the standard for both performance and responsiveness.”
